Senior Coverage Counsel
Mid-Sized Property & Casualty Carrier
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Coverage Counsel will serve as the organization’s primary internal authority on insurance coverage, reporting to the Head of Legal Claims and partnering closely with senior claims leadership across the enterprise. This role is designed to centralize coverage expertise and reduce reliance on outside counsel, providing real-time guidance to claims professionals on complex coverage issues, policy interpretation and emerging risks. In addition to supporting claims, the role will collaborate with underwriting and product teams on policy language, form development and new product considerations, with the opportunity to help build a more structured internal coverage function over time.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of insurance coverage experience, either within a law firm or carrier environment, with exposure across multiple lines and jurisdictions. Success in this role requires the ability to assess complex issues quickly and provide practical, business-oriented guidance without over-reliance on extensive research. Equally important is a collaborative and approachable style, with the ability to translate nuanced legal concepts into clear, actionable direction for claims professionals.
