Head of Technical Accounting

POSITION SUMMARY

The Head of Technical Accounting will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller and serve as the organization’s senior authority on U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting and technical accounting policy. This executive will lead the enterprise technical accounting function, providing strategic guidance on complex transactions, regulatory reporting, accounting standards implementation and financial disclosures while partnering closely with executive leadership, business units, regulators and external auditors. The role carries significant enterprise impact through ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, supporting strategic initiatives including capital actions and acquisitions and maintaining robust accounting governance across a complex banking organization.

The ideal candidate brings 15+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including significant technical accounting expertise within large, publicly traded financial institutions. This leader combines deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, banking regulations and complex financial instruments with a proven track record of advising on mergers and acquisitions, regulatory matters and non-routine transactions. Big Four or national public accounting experience is strongly preferred, along with exceptional analytical capabilities, executive communication skills and a collaborative leadership style that builds credibility across senior leadership, auditors and regulatory agencies.
