Chief Insurance Operations Officer

Property & Casualty Insurance Provider

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Insurance Operations Officer is a newly created executive role reporting directly to the President & CEO and serving on the Executive Leadership Team. Accountable for the full revenue-generating engine of the organization, this leader will oversee middle-market and standard lines underwriting, enterprise sales & distribution and the build-out of a nascent assumed reinsurance capability. The organization is a disciplined, relationship-driven regional P&C carrier with deep roots in the Midwest, operating through an independent agent network and known for its underwriting rigor across personal, commercial and farm lines. Having completed a multi-year book rehabilitation, the company is now entering an aggressive expansion phase, adding three to five new states, pursuing M&A and affiliation opportunities and ultimately separating into two distinct underwriting entities. The CIOO will be the principal architect of that transformation, with explicit positioning as a long-term successor to the CEO.

The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 10 years of progressive P&C insurance leadership with demonstrated executive ownership across underwriting, distribution or operations in a complex, multi-line environment. Direct experience in assumed reinsurance treaty structures is highly valued given the build-ahead; equally important is a track record of launching new capabilities, restructuring underperforming teams and driving disciplined portfolio performance against combined ratio and capital deployment metrics. This is not a steady-state management role. The environment requires a proven builder with CEO-caliber presence, the financial fluency to engage a board and reinsurance counterparties and the judgment to scale a regional platform without compromising underwriting discipline.
