The Chief Actuary & Risk Officer is a key executive leader responsible for setting and executing actuarial strategy across Personal, Commercial, Surety, Reinsurance, and Data Science functions, with a focus on supporting profitability, growth, risk management, and regulatory compliance. This role oversees core actuarial disciplines including pricing, reserving, forecasting, reinsurance, and advanced analytics, ensuring models and processes are data-driven, forward-looking, and aligned with business objectives. This position will foster a culture of analytical rigor and innovation while serving as a strategic partner to executive leadership.
Our placement most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Actuary for the North American operations of a global insurance company, overseeing $35 billion in reserves and leading a team of 90 actuaries while reporting to the Global Chief Actuary. With over 20 years at the same organization, they have held diverse roles including Strategic Assistant to the Group CEO, Senior Investor Relations Officer, and various actuarial leadership positions across multiple continents, including a multi-year assignment living and working in Europe where they managed teams across multiple regions. Their career demonstrates deep technical expertise with multiple actuarial fellowships (FCAS, FSA, FCIA) and CPCU designation, combined with strategic capabilities gained through investor relations work and C-suite support roles. They have led major initiatives including global reserving transformations, IFRS 17 transitions, and cross-functional alignment projects, with a leadership style characterized as approachable, technically rigorous, and focused on talent development.
