The General Counsel & Chief Operating Officer oversees legal and financial operations across 10+ subsidiaries including real estate development, community banking, property management, hospitality, and entertainment businesses. Reporting to the co-Presidents and working directly with Company Ownership, this executive provides strategic direction and tactical execution, fostering high-performing culture, recruiting and retaining talent, and monitoring legal and financial policies for compliance. Key responsibilities include selecting and overseeing outside legal counsel, coordinating multi-generational estate planning and tax planning, managing cash flows and capital allocation with the CFO, establishing compliance protocols, serving as legal advisor on investment activities and asset management governance, overseeing corporate governance and commercial transactions, and reducing reliance on external counsel through robust in-house capabilities.
Our placement is a senior legal and operations executive currently serving as Chief Legal Officer and SVP of Operations at a vertically integrated real estate investment firm, where they oversee legal, HR, IT, and business operations for a portfolio of over 100 commercial assets across multiple states. With a strong background in real estate law and corporate governance, they previously spent several years at a major institutional real estate company where they served as primary counsel for asset management, joint ventures, and corporate transactions, consistently earning high-performance ratings and above-target bonuses. Earlier in their career, they worked as an associate at a prominent law firm specializing in commercial real estate, representing investors and lenders in complex transactions and fund formations, and received multiple awards for being in the top tier of associates. They hold a law degree with highest honors from a major public university, graduating in the top 10% of their class, and have an undergraduate degree in advertising with a business minor.
