The Chief Financial Officer will lead accounting and finance professionals for a growing real estate investment firm focused on value-add transactions with emphasis on accuracy, transparency, and generating industry-leading returns in a founder-led, entrepreneurial environment. Reporting to the CEO, this executive oversees capital markets and financing including managing equity and debt relationships, securing new equity for closed-end discretionary funds, developing lender relationships and recapitalization options, and managing overall balance sheet strategy. Key responsibilities include day-to-day cash and treasury management across corporate and funds, directing financial reporting and quarterly portfolio analysis, overseeing budgeting and financial modeling at project, fund, and corporate levels, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, managing third-party relationships and Yardi systems, providing deal structuring support to maximize results, and building a high-performance finance and accounting function while serving as trusted advisor to the CEO.
The ideal candidate has 15+ years of real estate finance and accounting experience with a proven track record leading accounting and finance functions, preferably as CFO for a publicly traded REIT, owner-operator, or private-equity-backed real estate business with $2B+ in assets. This executive brings expertise in capital markets, treasury, compliance, fund administration, banking relationships, forecasting, and reporting, with demonstrated success working effectively with outside accounting, tax, and audit firms as well as private investors, lenders, and ratings agencies. They possess collaborative partnership-oriented mindset, excellent communication skills, working knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, outstanding strategic planning and organizational skills, and ability to balance strategic and tactical execution while commanding executive presence with humility, authenticity, and transparency.
